Abdelghafour ZAABOUT Affiliate Professor
Dr. Abdelghafour Zaabout, a Senior Scientist at SINTEF Industry in Norway, has over 10 years of experience developing highly efficient and cost- effective technologies for decarbonization of the industrial, energy and hydrogen sectors. He received his PhD from Aix Marseille University before starting a two-years Postdoctoral Fellowship at Eindhoven University of Technology (Chemical Reactor Intensification group) in the Netherlands. Throughout the last ten years, he served as a key driver in the demonstration of several CO2 capture and hydrogen production technologies both at lab and pilot scales, where his role varied from implementer to WP leader and project leader in the framework of different Norwegian, EU funded and direct industrial projects. His activities covered a wide variety of CO2 capture, decarbonization and waste recycling processes (e.g., chemical looping applied to power and hydrogen production, adsorption, cryogenic, mineralization, pyrolysis, molten salt). He is also part of the EU strategy and CCS teams in the Process Technology department, he led the multiphase reactor task force in his group and he chaired several sessions in the international conference on Fluidization. Dr. Zaabout has published nearly 40 peer reviewed high-ranking journal papers and has co-supervised dozens of students combining PhD students, postdocs and graduate engineering students. Dr. Zaabout was a key driver in licensing his co-patented innovative concept for CO2 capture.
